Early 20th Century Solid Oak Corner Armchair (c.1900–1920)
A well-crafted, solid oak corner armchair in the classic English country house style, combining comfort with timeless character. The chair features a shaped top rail with gently out-swept arms and carved splat supports, leading to a traditional triangular seat with hand-woven cane in a lattice pattern.
The design is echoed in the cane back panels, suggesting it may once have formed part of a matched set. Raised on elegant cabriole front legs with pad feet, and supported by turned rear legs with stretchers for strength, the chair is both sturdy and refined. The warm oak tone and attractive grain have developed a rich patina over time, making it a versatile piece suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
