Terms & Conditions

Seller Listing & Consignment Terms

These Seller Listing & Consignment Terms (“Terms”) apply to all sellers using the Host Your Antiques service. By submitting items for listing, photography, or sale, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms in full.

1. Appointment

The Seller appoints Host Your Antiques (“the Company”) as a non-exclusive sales agent to market and sell the Seller’s items via the Host Your Antiques website and associated Social Media channels.

2. Listing & Photography Fee

A £20.00 per item, non-refundable listing fee is payable before or at the time of photography and listing. This fee covers item preparation, photography, and marketing and is non-refundable under all circumstances.

3. Travel & Emissions Charges

For appointments outside our standard service area, an additional travel-and-emissions contribution fee applies.

This covers: fuel, parking, congestion and clean air zone charges.  The exact amount will always be confirmed and agreed upon before any travel takes place.

4. Commission

Upon the successful sale of any item, the Company shall deduct a 25% commission from the final sale price.

The remaining balance shall be paid to the Seller once buyer funds have fully cleared and all sale conditions have been satisfied.

5. Ownership, Authority & Minimum Price

 

The Seller confirms that:

  • They are the legal owner of all listed items

  • They have full authority to sell them

  • Items are free from finance, charge, lien, or third-party claim

The Seller further confirms that a minimum acceptable sale price has been agreed for each item.  By submitting items for sale, the Seller grants the Company full authority to accept any offer at or above the agreed minimum price and to complete the sale on the Seller’s behalf.

The Company will always aim to achieve the maximum realistic retail price; however, the Seller acknowledges that market value may vary and accepts sales concluded at the agreed minimum price.  The Seller agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Company against any ownership, authority, or authenticity disputes.

6. Item Description & Authenticity

All item descriptions are based on information supplied by the Seller and visual inspection.
The Company does not guarantee age, origin, attribution, or authenticity unless expressly stated in writing.

7. Storage & Possession

Items remain in the Seller’s possession until sold.
The Seller agrees to store items safely, securely, and in a condition consistent with their listed description.

8. Sale Completion & Collection

Once buyer payment has fully cleared, the Company will arrange collection directly from the Seller.

All packing, delivery, and shipping costs are paid by the buyer unless otherwise agreed in writing.

9. Withdrawal & Private Sale

If the Seller withdraws an item or completes a private sale of a listed item, the Seller must notify the Company immediately.

Failure to notify the Company may result in removal of all active listings and suspension of seller services.

10. Cancellation

The Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate seller access or listings at any time in cases of breach, misrepresentation, or non-compliance with these Terms. Listing fees are non-refundable.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Company shall not be liable for:

  • Loss, damage, or theft while items remain in the Seller’s possession

  • Changes or fluctuations in market value

  • Buyer non-completion once cleared funds have been received

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

13. Returns & Cancellation Policy
Cooling-Off Period (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)

If you are purchasing as a private consumer and your order is placed online or at a distance, you have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of receiving the item, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.  To exercise this right, you must notify Host Your Antiques in writing within 14 days of delivery. Once cancellation is confirmed, the item must be returned within a further 14 days.

Return Conditions

  • Items must be returned in the same condition as supplied.

  • The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise agreed.

  • Items must be appropriately packaged and fully insured during return transit.

  • We strongly recommend using a professional carrier experienced in handling antiques.

  • Any damage occurring during return transit remains the responsibility of the buyer.

  • Refunds will be processed within 14 days of the item being safely received and inspected.

Original delivery costs will be refunded only to the extent required by law. Any premium delivery services selected at checkout are non-refundable.

Condition & Description

All items are antique or vintage and will show signs of age and use consistent with their history. Descriptions and photographs form part of the condition report. Buyers are encouraged to review all details carefully and request additional information prior to purchase.  If an item is materially misdescribed, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain unaffected. 

 

International Purchases

For international buyers, the same 14-day cancellation period applies where legally required. Return shipping, customs duties, import charges, and insurance remain the buyer's responsibility.  Host Your Antiques acts as a professionally managed sales platform on behalf of private owners. However, all sales contracts are concluded with Host Your Antiques, and we are responsible for handling returns and refunds in accordance with UK consumer law.

14. Acceptance

By submitting items to Host Your Antiques for listing or sale, the Seller confirms acceptance of these Seller Listing & Consignment Terms.
